Girish bagged first Medal for India in paralympic games


India bagged the first medal in paralympic games. Athlete Girish H Nagrajegauda of India won men's high jump silver medal to his name in the event F 42.

Karnataka's 24-year-old athlete has problem in his left foot. In final he jumped 1.74 m by seizures technique and was on second spot. In the presence of 80,000 spectators and in close competition for the gold with Liesa Delaney of Fiji and Lucas of Poland. Delaney also jump 1.74 meter but due to the low number of attempts he got gold. Girish was aided by a Bengaluru-based NGO samarthanam, and he practiced for three weeks before the games exercises at camp.
