The Central Government has confirmed massive adulteration in milk sold in the country. In the affidavit filed by the Government with the Supreme Court said that 68.4 per cent milk samples have been found adulterated. water adulteration is common in milk, but in some cases even hints of mixing of detergent were also found.
Assistant Director of Food safety and standard authority of India Mr. Kamal Kumar said in the affidavit filed on Wednesday on his behalf that he is aware of milk adulterated news in media. Therefore last year the authority decided of conduct survey on quality of milk.
The survey was conducted in towns and villages of 33 States and total of 1791samples were collected. Only 565 [31%] samples meet the standards, while the 1226 [68.4 %] sample failed, i.e. were found adulterated. 381 [31%] samples were from rural area and 840 [68.9 %] from city.
